Situated two miles south of Lochinver, less than forty miles north of Ullapool and a hundred miles from the city of Inverness, Inverkirkaig is a small, scattered crofting settlement in the parish of Assynt (find it here on GoogleMaps). The cottage looks over Inverkirkaig Bay and is only a five minute walk from the seashore.

It has a fenced garden and ample off-road parking space for up to three cars. Well behaved dogs are welcome, but owners should be aware that there are often sheep in the area.

For more information about Assynt, try visiting the Assynt Tourism Group site, or even Wikipedia.

As a literary footnote, the great Scottish poet Norman McCaig spent many summers in the Cottage, and much of his work is about the land and people of Assynt. You can find more information about him and his work here and here, and a copy of his collected works, available from Amazon or, preferably, Achins Bookshop in Inverkirkaig will bring a new dimension to any visit to this part of the world.
