Friday was a long wet day. Gerry, Steve and John got well and truly wet. Gerry also had problems with his bike (spoke and gears apparently).
However, a warm and friendly welcome awaited Gerry and Steve that night at the Skygarth B&B in Temple Sowerby. Sheila Robinson took the bedraggled travelers in, washed and dried their clothes and ran them to the local pub! A big thanks to Sheila, pictured right.
Gerry managed to get his bike fixed in Penrith and Saturday saw the team enter Scotland - see Steve's cheesy picture to prove it! Only to ride all afternoon into a head wind.
Saturday night the team arrived at Dumfries to be met by a red carpet and two liveried bell boys, Andy Hodgson and Eric Butler, who took charge of the bikes and bags. However I don't think they did the washing - so not up to Sheila's standard of hospitality.
Saturday night also saw the arrival of Simon "Turbo" Tribe who acted as domestique on Sunday and ensured pace was maintained. So much so that the team arrived in Ardorssan ahead of shedule and jumped on the ferry a day early, thereby messing up the carefully planned B&B shedule - well done team.
This morning, Simon Turbo is still part of the team so after a leisurely breakfast on the Isle of Arran they are off . . . . , Gerry sporting some sort of wig and Simon dressed as a lollipop lady.
So over 700 miles completed so far and £5.5k in sponsorship raised for Cancer Research and Cure Leukaemia. A big thank you, yet again, to those of you who have sponsored the team and kept them moving. A reminder to you if you have not sponsored that you can do so direct on www.justgiving.com/Salt or www.justgiving.com/GKJ.
