It happened yesterday - they strayed off track. Gerry "knew the area like the back of his hand" so there was no need for extra bits of map. By the time they got back onto the route, 80 miles was done in one day - take into account that earlier in the day they couldn't resist a little race - the result was two very tired cyclists. They appear to be linking the amount of beer consumed each night to the relative miles cycled on a ratio of 16/1 - I believe that means they will have had 63 pints each by the end of the trip.
Weather holding out - yesterday they had an hour of rain, which coincided with their detour - so that was nice!
During their hours together they are learning a few personal secrets. Apparently Steve was moved to tears when he spotted an old steam train engine and admitted to Gerry that he used to collect train numbers at Crewe Station when he was younger (35).
