ONE DAY TO GO

One day to go before we are transported to Lands End by Colin – a cargo of two nearly middle aged men on the way down and a decommissioned met mast on the way back. Which is the more useful cargo I hear you ask?

The biggest worry concerning the “The Big Bike Ride Operations Team” before departure is how much weight the intrepid travellers can carry each day. While I know I will need four energy drinks a day Steve is convinced he can get by on sheer determination. Steve cannot convince me and I have convinced Denise that the B&B owners will be happy to accept parcels of white powder which will be collected and consumed by sweaty strangers en route.  See the picture "first row".

The sponsorship is trickling in, many thanks to those of you who have already shown your support and thanks in advance to those of you who are about to visit www.justgiving.com/GKJ or www.justgiving.com/Salt

If you prefer to gamble with your money, Simon Green has opened a book on how long it will be before one of us incurs an injury.  The winner will obviously be expected to donate the money to either Cure Leukaemia or Cancer Research.

There are already a few commitments to join for parts of the ride, Simon Tribe will join us from Dumfries to Androssen, Neil Exton, Rory Quinlan and John Howson will join from Leominster to Chester.  Jane Cummings had offered tea and cakes and a bucket of water up in Inverness. Simon Green of course will join for the last leg so that he can join the celebrations in John O’Groats. If you can join or offer a friendly wave along the way please let us know.

The last hurdle to be got over later today is for us to receive instructions on the operation of the James Bond equipment we need to take with us to pick up e-mails and take photos to prove to you all we are actually doing it.
