Living Willow Viking Long Ship Building
12 November 2010

Living Willow Viking Long Ship Building
At the Community Garden

Saturday 13th November from 10:30am
&
Sunday 21st November 10am - 3pm

We are building a 7m long VIKING LONGSHIP made out of living willow in your community garden. This will be the main feature for the children’s play area we are creating.

We would love for you to join us and to help us plant out the willow. Adults, children, everyone is welcome to join in the fun!
On Saturday 13th we aim to clear and mark out the area, preparing the ground for the structures.
On the Sunday 21st November we have “Out to Learn Willow” coming to our site to help and teach us to build the main structure – a Viking Long Ship!

The ship will be 7m long and 3m tall. We will also have a kit for a dome structure that will be  2.5m wide and 2m tall.
You will be shown how to lay out, plant and construct with living willow and will help the Viking long ship using traditional weaving techniques. You will also be taught about the care and maintenance required for a structure to thrive in its environment.

As the course will be out of doors you will need warm, waterproof clothing. Tea & coffee are provided but you'll need to bring a packed lunch.

We look forward to seeing you there!
