Honda CH250 Spacy Elite Classic Scooter

Not many people know that Honda started building scooters in the early eighties. The CH250 Spacy, sold as the Elite in the US, was years ahead of its time when introduced in 1985. This design effectively set the benchmark for the development of the super scooter as we know it today. The radical styling and relatively short production run means that not many were sold in the UK. They were also eye-wateringly expensive and completely off the radar for most motorcyclists at the time.

Liquid cooling, automatic variable belt drive, electric start and digital speedo were just some of the advanced features. The Spacy 250 also boasts a front disc brake, self cancelling indicators, ignition switch light, oil change indicator and digital clock.

The Spacy gives a smooth and comfortable ride; the unstressed engine is always in its power band while the belt does the work. This results in a bike which is a hoot to drive, nippy in town, fast enough on the road and capable of being used for practical everyday transport. Despite being lethally fast, many of these bikes have high mileages, testament to Honda build quality and sensible cruising around 55 mph.

While the scooter has been kept in original condition, the rear shocks are a recent upgrade and give a less bouncy ride than the original shocks. It also has braided metal hoses on the front hydraulic brake.

Colour is Summer Blonde metallic, ie gold.
