This rather grand title is the best we could come up with to cover the kind of activities in which the people of St Maelrubha’s are involved reflecting their interpretation of God’s Mission in this small place:
24 hour telephone prayer line.
2 differently focussed ecumenical prayer meetings.
Ecumenical services: Easter Son-Rise (sunrise) dawn service, Services of Remembrance.
Regular saying of Rosary in church with our Roman Catholic friends.
Ecumenical training event.
‘Here to Help’ Community Project (a ‘donation only’ meeting place in our newly extended/refurbished church hall for parties and community activity of many kinds).
Stewardship: direct charitable giving, Highland Hospice, food bank appeals, response to emergency relief requests. Sponsorship of four young people for their overseas service projects.
Involvement in all community organisations by at least one member of the congregation per organisation.
Close friendships with the Arctic Convoy Club and the Fieldcraft Training Centre.
Visiting other churches in the diocese.
Active interest in the developing ‘Church in Society’ agenda.
Endless baking and donation of raffle prizes in support of other organisations’ events!
