"Oily" Smith bores for Wales

Well, well. This is a photo from Owen Smith's official launch for the leadership battle today. I am told that no members of the public were invited, and he did not have the courtesy to invite his CLP. It sounds like the kind of engineered, carefully managed PR event typical of the maestro of such things, Tony Blair. And of course, with "Oily's" background as a senior lobbyist for Pfizer he'll be well versed in the techniques of the snakeoil salesman.

But some of those faces are familiar to me. Christina Rees and Carolyn Harris are there. I also have a feeling from their Twitter accounts that Jeremy Miles backs him as does Lord Peter Hain. It looks like "Oily" is sweeping up most of the Welsh support, who after all are hardly the brightest fireworks in the box.

It looks like it was a really exciting affair though - take a look at those faces! Oily will not be pleased that this particular photo escaped his carefully choreographed pitch.

The more I see this guy, and the more I read up about him, the more I am 110% convinced that there's not much between the ears. He reminds me of others in my life I have known who are not too bright but think they know it all, and there is nothing as irritating as a chopsy, arrogant, ever-smirking little runt (nearly hit the wrong first letter there), especially when they have to stand on a potato box to look you in the eye.

The Parliamentary Labour Party actually deserve him - it's the poor members I feel sorry for.
