Accommodation

The Glebe Barn Hostel and Outdoor Centre is ranked as a 4-star hostel by the Scottish Tourist Board. It's a conversion of a 19th century barn and is a very comfortable base for a group to stay over the week of the course. Overlooking Kildonan Bay, it has huge views east and south to Moidart and Ardnamurchan and south-west to Eigg’s iconic landmark – the Sgurr.

Most accommodation is in bunk rooms and small shared bedrooms. There are ample showers. Open-plan dining and lounge areas are spacious and there is a lab/workshop on the ground floor, plus drying facilities.

Outside, the garden has plenty of room for outdoor eating in fine weather, including for barbecues. There is a washing machine and an outdoor washing line.

The Glebe Barn is well-positioned to explore different parts of Eigg. Historic monuments and a lovely coast are close by, and the pier (with teashop, food shop and craftshop) is not far away. Walks from the Glebe can go south to the Sgurr area or north to Cleadale (home of most of Eigg’s community) and the famous ‘Singing Sands’.
