SpeyGrian is unique

It brings together teachers, writers, artists, musicians and scientists to explore creative approaches to outdoor learning. Through formal workshops and informal discussions, people from a wide range of backgrounds are encouraged to share ideas and learn from each other.

Set up more than 10 years ago, SpeyGrian has already organised many courses on both sea and land.

isle of eigg used for speygrian coursesThe island of Eigg has been a popular course venue for our Creative Connections residential course for several years. The island offers a diverse landscape, rich wildlife and history and a vibrant community which has become world famous for taking control of its destiny through a community-linked buyout over the last 15 years.  The community has developed award-winning sustainable energy schemes, green tourism and many other projects to create and maintain jobs. All of which is perfect inspiration for our workshops and discussions, exhcanging ideas and developing exciting approaches to outdoor learning.

Our journeying and learning courses have been similarlly inspirational, in recent years SpeyGrian has been involved in organising a 'Drove Roads' journey and a 'Bedrock Walk'. Both expeditions allowed a diverse group of artists, ecologists, storytellers, historians and educators. They explored the landscape through which they travelled, exchanging  knowledge and ideas and finding new ways to share these with others.
