Thistle Pulling Request This Morning

The three of us............. Jenny, Mary, myself............. found several pockets of thistles beginning to abound, although there were fewer than expected in many of the usual places, eg by the hedgerows.

We worked from 10:00 to 12:30, I initially counted how many I had pulled, but a resonably accurate estimation is that we each pulled about 1100 creeping thistles. And around 30 spears.

This shows again the extent of the problem which will only get worse if not consistently tackled. I estimate 60 pulling hours per year is needed. We achieved 7.5 this morning.

It was great to be out on the fields and in the fresh air; the next team thistle pull is on Saturday 27th May at 11:00,and maybe others in June, but this vital task can be done alone.
