                 Welcome to

             Skehandale Bearded Collies.

Hello, we are the Oakes family and we live in Maghull on Merseyside.

We hope you enjoy reading about our dogs and can see just how wonderful the breed is. They're friendly, loyal, beautiful and highly inteligent dogs.

I respectfuly dedicate this website to my wonderful parents

             Dennis & Winnie Skean.

Our family wouldn't be complete without our Beardies. This house just keeps getting a little more full as time goes by.

Beardies love you unconditionally and always welcome you home with a waggy tail and a big lick. They never give you cheek and never want a lift any where. They bring you the post (a little chewed) lick their bowls clean and keep your feet warm all year round. What more could you ask for?

There's nothing like a "Beardie hug." They embrace you completly with a full Beardie bounce and snuggle. Wet beards aren't everyone's cup of tea though and a Beardie will often use your trouser leg to dry his beard off!

The Beardie coat is hard work and should always be a priority at least twice a week in my experience. They can look stunning one moment and the next they've found a puddle or mud to get their toes and faces into.

For all these reasons, I love My Beardies with a passion. I do though have trouble sometimes, trying to outwit them.

We have had a Bearded Collie in the family since 1996 and wouldn't be without one (or two or three)

At the moment we have two Brown Beardies called Dennis & Winnie who are full brother and sister and a Slate Beardie called Mabel. As the children grow up and move on to university etc, I find i'm filling that void with my dogs.

They're full of fun, highly intelligent and have love to give in abundance. Every day gives reason to smile with a Bearded Collie. Mine have me always involved in conversation when we're out. Total strangers will stop and admire them. (usually asking "are they Dulux dogs") They're show offs, they love fuss and attention and are totally disgusted if anyone walks past without saying hello to them. In all honesty, they're two of my best friends.

I can't imagine ever being without a Beardie. As the saying goes

  " if it's not a Bearded Collie...It's just a Dog"
