Mannone handed a 2 year deal
Vito Mannone has been given a two year deal at Sunderland.
he'll now stay at the club until 2017.
Mannone joined the Black Cats last summer and quickly established himself as the rightful owner of the number one shirt with a string of impressive performances as the north-east side beat relegation.
The 26-year-old initially joined from Arsenal on a one-year deal with an option of extending the contract by a further two years - an option the club has now taken up.
The news comes just days after the Italian spoke out to cool talk of a possible move away from the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland announced the signing of free agent Costel Pantilimon earlier this week and it is expected the two will now have to battle it out to impress boss Gus Poyet.
