Sunderland are chasing Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni.
The Argentine is off contract next month and locked in talks over a new deal.
The Sun says Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is keen to tempt Speroni to Wearside as competition for Vito Mannone.
