The two Premier League sides aren't alone in their interest for Laing, who has had a contract offer from Blackburn, and is being monitored by Nottingham Forest and Derby County.

Laing made just one substitute appearance for Sunderland's first team during his time at the Stadium of Light, having joined the north east team back in 2011.

The centre-back has also represented England at all levels between Under-16 and Under-19.
