Defender linked with West Ham

@Sunderlandafc11

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has been linked with a move for Sunderland defender Phil Bardsley who looks set for a summer exit.

The Black Cats defender is out of contract at the Stadium of Light in the summer and Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has admitted he expects the player to be on the move at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old is 1 of a number of Black Cats players who are out of contract in the summer and there are no talks scheduled about a new one, with suggestions he would have to take a massive pay cut if he stayed, so a departure looks to be on the cards.

Hammers boss Allardyce is expected to strengthen his squad in the summer but Bardsley will not be short of options especially as he is available on a free transfer, so he will be able to pick and choose his next move.

If Sunderland survive the drop then he could be offered a new deal at the Stadium of Light but nothing will be concluded until the end of the season.
