Burnley want Bardsley and Gardner

According to Evening Chronicle Phil Bardsley and Craig Gardner are summer transfer targets for newly-promoted Burnley.

The Sunderland duo are both out of contract in the summer and are likely to move on.

Sunderland have held contract talks with Bardsley but negotiations have broken down and boss Gus Poyet says he expects the 28-year-old defender to move on, although the Scotland international himself has not yet ruled out staying on Wearside.           

Gardner’s three-year deal expires this summer and the 27-year-old has not been offered a new deal, which means he will be free to move on.

Bardsley is Sunderland’s longest-serving player, having joined the club in 2008, and Sunderland turned down a £2m bid for him from Fulham in the January transfer window.
