Brown suffered no split loyalties helping Sunderland dump Man Utd out of Cup

Wes Brown says he suffered no split loyalties helping Sunderland to beat Manchester United in their Capital One Cup semifinal.

Brown, still a popular figure among United fans, admitted he had little sympathy for his old team or their new manager, David Moyes.

"I don’t feel any sympathy at all," Brown said. "I’m a Sunderland fan now. Obviously I’m a United fan as well, but when we are playing them I am Sunderland all the way.

"This result is up there with what I achieved at United. We’ve come toManchester United and have got the result we wanted and now we are in a final. When I was at United, if we had done the same thing to get into a final, the feeling would be the same. But for us to do it here is brilliant.

"Back in September I could not imagine this club would be going to a Wembley final. We’ve come such a long way since. We are playing very differently. We are a strong bunch of lads and hopefully we can just keep this going now in the league."
