Sunderland target Ryan Bertrand

@Sunderlandafc11

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is one of a number of Premier League managers looking to take Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea in the new year.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is also very keen and is set to make a permanent offer for a player they tried to sign last summer while Cardiff are also said to be interested along with Nottingham Forest in the Championship.

The England defender was a target for Liverpool last summer but he opted to take his chances at Stamford Bridge, but he is finding first-team football hard to come by and, even when Ashley Cole was injured, he was overlooked by Jose Mourinho in favour of Cesar Azpilicueta.

He may now consider the time is right to move on and try and establish himself at another Premier League club, but Chelsea may not be keen to allow him a permanent move so a switch on loan could be on the cards.

Poyet is looking to stamp his own impression on the Sunderland side and will be making moves when the window opens in the new year but his chances of landing Bertrand look slim.

Bertrand,  who has made 28 Appearances for Chelsea, 24-year-old can play Left-Back, Left Midfield and Left Wing
