Colback: Hull Defeat Destroys Derby Win Platform

@Sunderlandafc11

Jack Colback says that the 1-0 defeat away at Hull City is a big step backwards after the win over Newcastle United in their previous match

Carlos Cuellar's first half own goal was followed by red cards for Lee Cattermole and Andrea Dossena as Gus Poyet's side suffered their eighth defeat of the Premier League campaign.

The result came six-days after the 2-1 Wear-Tyne derby victory over Newcastle United anc Colback says that the squad had discussed how damaging a defeat to Hull City would be after that.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Jack Colback said: "It's a game we were coming to hoping to get some points from.

"We said leading up to it that the efforts we put in against Newcastle would be wasted if we left here with a defeat and it still puts us in a difficult position.

"But we need to keep fighting and come out strong and win some games for the fans."
