Sunderland agree fee for John Souttar
John Souttar is close to a move to Sunderland after Dundee United agreed a fee of £600,000 for the defender.
The clubs have reached agreement and Souttar has now had talks with the Wearside outfit
And, if Souttar moves on from the Stadium of Light at some future point, Dundee could earn a further seven-figure sum.
The 17-year-old, who made his debut for the Terrors in January, has been subject to interest from a host of English clubs, with Sunderland reportedly having a bid rejected for him in the summer.
Souttar, who has made 14 appearances for Dundee United, has enjoyed a rapid ascent through the ranks at Tannadice, making his first appearance as a 16-year-old under Peter Houston last campaign.
Sunderland are without a manager following the recent dismissal of Paolo di Canio but, under director of football Roberto De Fanti, are keen to press ahead with the signing to fend off interest from premier league rivals Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle.
