Fabio Borini made a mistake in moving to Liverpool, says agent

Fabio Borini moved to Anfield last summer in a £10.5m deal, but an injury plagued first season at the club saw the striker unable to recapture the form shown in Italy where he scored 10 times in 26 appearances.

Borini has since been sent out on a season-long loan to fellow Premier League side Sunderland and his agent, Marco De Marchi, has admitted the move to Liverpool may have been a mistake.

"I think Fabio would have been the ideal player for Zeman last year,” he told Radio Mana Mana.

"But the decision was made to leave Roma. Of course, it all happened very quickly and there was no chance to talk with the Coach.

"But having said that, I still think Roma would have been the right team for Fabio."

Brendan Rodgers' decision to send Borini out on-loan was a result of capturing Victor Moses from Chelsea on the same type of deal.

The 22-year-old made his Black Cats debut from the substitute bench in Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to Arsenal.
