Colback to play new role at Sunderland
Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio has told Jack Colback he can be their first-choice wing-back.
Colback, 23, is considering his options as he wants to play in midfield.
But Di Canio says: “Now we’re playing in a different way, he’s started to understand that as a left-back he becomes like a winger.
“With the system we’re going to use this year, both full-backs often during the game will become wingers. He’s going to enjoy it.”
Northern Echo are reporting that Hull City and West Brom are ready to test Sunderland's resolve to hold on to Jack Colback by tabling formal bids for the midfielder.
