Juventus Midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini Set for Sunderland Medical
Sunderland are closing on completing the capture of midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini from Juventus.
The Black Cats have agreed a fee of around €8m for the Italy midfielder, who is poised to sign a four-year contract at the Stadium of Light.
According to Sky Italia, Giaccherini will land for a medical with Sunderland on Monday, ahead of the official completion of the deal.
Juventus coach Antonio Conte has bemoaned the loss of Giaccherini, but insisted he understands funds need to be recouped following the signing of Carlos Tevez.
Giaccherini represented Italy at this summer’s Confederations Cup in Brazil.
The midfielder, who often operates on the right flank, is under contract with Juventus until 2015.
Last season he helped Conte’s men to their second successive Serie A title.
