Roma were thought to be on the verge of sealing a move for the Brazilian, yet Sunderland have now been mooted as showing late interest in the former Inter Milan keeper.
Sunderland could be put off by Cesar as they are unlikely to match the 33-year-old Brazilian’s £80,000-a-week wages.
