Transfer Talk: Sunderland eyes Lazio Right-back              

Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio is ready to return to Lazio for a second defensive signing.

After clinching centre-half Modibo Diakite on a Bosman this week, Di Canio is now eyeing his former Lazio teammate Luis Pedro Cavanda.

The Belgian, 22,  is entering the final year of his current deal and Sky Italia says talks have already begun between the two clubs over a fee for the fullback.

The Belgium Under-21 international has been linked with sides in France and Spain,  however, Sunderland are now believed to be front-runners to secure his signature. Arsenal, Stoke City, Everton and Aston Villa were all linked with the Angola-born right-back who has made just 29 Serie A appearances for Lazio in the past three seasons.
