Becoming a Volunteer
The Redcar in Bloom initiative aims to bring people together with a common goal – we care; if you care. Redcar in Bloom came about following a joint initiative by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and the Rotary Club of Redcar. Through partnership, working with other local voluntary and statutory organizations, we aim to initiate community led environmental and horticultural improvements in the six wards (Coatham, Dormanstown, Kirkleatham, Newcomen, West Dyke & Zetland) which make up the town of Redcar. We have made a good start and during 2015/16 intend continuing to build and increase relationships.
Redcar submitted an entry in the "Coastal Town" category of the Northumbria in Bloom Competition for the very first time in 2011 gaining a Bronze Medal and in 2012 we improved that to a silver.
The silver was maintained in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Due to lack of numbers within the group the committee decided that in 2016 we will not submit an entry in the Coastal Resort category of the Northumbria in Bloom competition.
All our efforts will now be focused on our projects.
The Redcar in Bloom group of volunteers comprise people from all parts of the community, with support be it in the form of willing "hands on" volunteers, sponsorship, grants or donations all are actively sought.
We have several projects under way for 2016 in order to build on our early successes.
