FRIARS FINGERS
ROASTED APPLES OR BANANAS

FRIARS FINGERS
2 sliced loaves
lb butter
1 1/2 lb jam
2 eggs
2 large cans Ideal Milk
3 tablesp. sugar
1 lb lard or cooking fat
Caster sugar
Butter the bread and make the jam sandwiches. Trim off the crusts and cut the sandwiches into fingers.
Beat the egg, milk and sugar together.
Melt the lard in a frying pan. Dip the fingers in milk and egg and fry until golden brown.
Sprinkle with caster sugar and serve hot. Serves 20 approximately.
ROASTED APPLES OR BANANAS
Wrap whole apples or bananas in buttered double foil and put them around the edge of the fire, turning them over once or twice during
the cooking time. Pierce with a fork to test if cooked.
Serve in foil and let each person sprinkle his own with mixed sugar and spice and a pat of butter.
LEMON SAUCE
2 large cans Nestle's Condensed Milk Grated rind and juice of 2 lemons
Empty the condensed milk into a large bowl and stir in the lemon rind and juice.
Serve with Crosse & Blackwell Chocolate Pudding or any plain pudding.
CUSTARD
3 large cans Ideal Milk, made up to 3 pt. with water
3 oz sugar
4 heaped tablesp. Fulcreem Custard Powder
Heat the liquid in a saucepan. Make a smooth mixture with the custard powder and a little cold water. Add custard powder mixture to the saucepan, stirring all the time, bring the custard slowly to
the boil. Allow to boil for a few minutes and then
add the sugar and serve at once with one of Crosse
& Blackwell's canned puddings, or stewed fruit.
