Green with Envy!! 05 October 2010 a tough game now against a stubborn Newgate side who despite finishing fairly low by their standards last season are always able to cause an upset, some great players lead by Brian Craig (DL) as captain. Up first we tried something a little different as JOHN G kicked us off instead of the usual Bruce, was unlucky after knuckling the black in the middle and lost. BRUCE ALMIGHTY up next, lost the lag but cleared up after the other guy broke, 1v1, Craigs usual spot of third on the roster was taken by the SILVER FOX, was unlucky, he's got the talent, but couldnt find a finish this time round, 2v1 down. TAM the HANDY MAN is on next to turn this into a game but falls slightly short of the final hurdle, 3-1 down. Next up is KARLOS, who knows what he was smoking but it never helped and he lost too, 4-1 down, not the start we has anticipated!!! When things are needing to happen in a match a team always looks for inspiration from their Captain, that was evident in the next match when CAPTAIN JIM threw his name in the hat and produced just the flavour needed to pull an important game back for the Railway Inn (1) as it could have been 5-1, instead its 4-2. With two games left till all singles are complete, having the luxury of our Vice Captain and last years Player Of The Year still waiting to play, things looked destined to improve, and they did, thanks to a fantastically cut black into the middle by CRAIG and a typical SCOTT result we have all been accustomed to see, we had now brought it back from 4-1 down to 4 each! We were 4-4 against the Abbey (1) the previous week so we knew what we had to do to win from here. TAM & SCOTT up, no problem, 5-4 up, and takes the lead for 1st time tonight, BRUCE & JIM, will these guys ever get beat??? 6-4 us and that’s a point with 2 games to spare! FOX & KARLOS, 6-5, CRAIG & JOHN G, could have went any way, great finish by CRAIG potting 3 balls after getting two shots thanks to JOHNs previous shot. 7-5 FINAL SCORE, ANOTHER WIN FOR THE RAILWAY INN (1)
Home v Pageant next week, should be another win | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
