New Carriage for Argyll RDA

The Argyll RDA Driving Group (SCIO) recently took delivery of the last ever carriage to be built by Jack Clyne.

Jack became interested in horses and used to go trecking a lot.  Then in 1957 he went to the Falkland Islands as a shepherd - all on horseback.  In the 1980s he went to Drumnadrochid and whilst there he became interested in carriage driving. He couldnt at the time find a suitable carriage to built his own!  The first specially adapted carriage for disabled drivers Jack built was in 1984 and the last one for the Argyll RDA Driving Group (SCIO) was completed in 2012.  Jack and his wife Maureen have been involved with and supported the carriage driving community for many years.  Jack doesnt drive any more but was delighted to have a drive on the first carriage he built for the Argyll group at the Hopetoun National Carriage Driving Competition last year.  Our gratitude and best wishes go to Jack and Maureen for their services to the sport of carriage driving and particularly to the RDA.
