Portree Primary School recently completed the latest phase of their playground upgrade when their MUGA ( multi use games area) was opened for use by pupils, after-school clubs and the community. The project marks the completion of nearly £100,000.00 worth of improvements to the playground which have been funded by a massive fund-raising effort by the school and the Parent Council over the last 3 years. Support has also been received from Highland Council, the local Coop and other community groups.
The picture shows some excited pupils on the MUGA along with Donald Gillies the school janitor, Joe Duffy, from Sutcliffe Play the main contractors, John Finlayson the H.T. and John MacKenzie the school’s P.E. teacher.
The addition of the MUGA complements the other works completed over the last 3 years which include a trim trail, an outdoor classroom, a refurbished garden area with seating and opportunities for pupils to grow things and the repairing of the general playground surface.
