Welcome to The Playbox Playgroup.
The playbox playgroup is a charitable organisation which provides valuable pre-school education for children aged 0-4 years.
The playgroup is based in Macleod Road in Wick, Caithness and over the years has helped many children prepare for nursery and onwards to primary school.
At present, Playbox offers the following services:
Morning Playgroup (3yrs+) - Monday to Friday 9.15am to 11.45am Afternoon Group (2 1/2 - 3yrs) - Tuesday & Thursday 1.30-3.00pm Parent & Toddler Group - Wednesday & Friday 1.30-3.00pm
We hold various events during the year, including parties at playgroup to mark particular occasions.
We also invite various community figures to talk to the children, e.g. Dental Educator, Police Officers, Fire Service.
Curriculum
Playbox Playgroup works with the "Curriculum Framework for Children 3 to 5" which has been set out by the Scottish Executive and which is incorporated into our Curriculum Policy. The curriculum framework helps the play leaders to support and extend a child's learning through play. It helps staff to plan activities and experiences that promote children's development and learning in the following five key areas:
Emotional, Personal and Social Development
Communication and Language
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
Expressive and Aesthetic Development
Physical Development and Movement.
