One of the most successful years in Pitlochry Weightlifting club's 38 year history finished on a high at the Scottish U-13 Development/ Scottish Development Cup finals at Easterhouse, Glasgow on saturday. Four members won their school year weight classes. Ryan Borthwick won the 35kg (Year 5) class with a 20kg snatch and a 30kg clean & jerk for a 207 points total, both lifts were personal bests. Holly Morrogh Bernard won the 53kg (Year 6) class with a 26kg snatch and a 31kg jerk for a 226 points total. Megan Watson won the 53kg (Year 7) class with a 12kg snatch and a 18kg jerk for a 153 points total. Rowan Morrogh Bernard won the 53kg (Year 8) class with a 34kg snatch and a 48kg jerk for a 306 points total. In the Scottish Development cup Ryan, Holly and Rowan all won their age groups and Megan was third. Rowan won the best lifter award for the highest technical points total over the 3 rounds with a perfect score of 216 points, Ryan and Holly were tied for second place on 212 points, which meant that the top three lifters out of the total of 59 competitors were from Pitlochry and Megan was in fifth place overall, so this was definitely the best result in the club's history due to the efforts of the club's two coaches Robert Borthwick and Alex Phillips.
