CAPRI Newsletter No. 43

The Public Inquiry to decide National Grid's proposed pressure reduction installation at Tirley held  on Tuesday 13th July 2010 at Corse & Staunton Village Hall, is reported in the CAPRI Newsletter No. 43, which is stored in the LIBRARY - see Menu.

The blow up in Texas earlier this month is mentioned in the latest CAPRI Newsletter (No.41) which has just being added to the file in the LIBRARY.

Another LNG pipeline blows up in Texas and kills three people. Ten people are reported missing.  See BBC News report:

Have you noticed the frequency of recent earthquakes and the volcanic activity in Iceland (15.4.10)? 
It has been forecast that these will increase as the earth crosses its equator in the heavens in December 2012.

USA Natural Gas Pipeline Explodes

We are waiting for details of the explosion that occurred in the USA while a natural gas pipeline was being tested.   A number of people have been reported killed.

What can we learn from this disaster to prevent something similar happening with the pipeline highlighted below?

Tewkesbury Council Refuse Planning Permission 

The Planning Committee of Tewkesbury Borough Council met on Tuesday 2nd February 2010. They decided to refuse planning permission for National Grid to build the pressure reduction installation at Tirley.

OUR AIM

Our aim is to inform everyone about the controversional LNG Pipeline that runs from Milford Haven to Cilfrew (near Neath) and beyond to the boundary of Wales - and to allow points of view from various souces.

In particular, there should be an awareness of the dangers and what has been experienced in other countries.   The pressure of the gas inside the pipeline will be 94 bar (1,360 psi) - . which can be compared to a pressure washer - in fact 1,363 psi and any comparison with a pressure washer is rather meaningless when you consider that the pressure is enough to send a fireball several hundred feet into the sky and debris to a greater range than that at which a standard military rifle will kill.
The pressure is higher than any other LNG pipeline installed to date.    Dangers increase as the pressure increases.

This website was officially launched on 20th July 2009 when press releases were sent to the media.   It is reasonable to say that they have a moral responsibility to inform their readers and viewers about its existence - in view of the danger to life that has been highlighted by technical experts.

Our new link to the YOUTUBE website shows over 60 videos.  Some are educational and explain about the LNG process while others highlight the dangers.  A little knowledge is a dangerous thing so our aim to give access to as much information as possible.  Remember,  our main concern is the way the South Wales pipeline was built and the very high pressure involved.
