This was a must win game for PDG and a record win keeps hopes of staying up alive. Playing into both the sun and the wind in the first half it took a few minutes for PDG to find their feet but with excellent movement of the ball The Choppers were able create chances, especially through the midfield pairing of Brown and Rigg. A couple of chances went awry, and G.Macleod was lucky to stay on the pitch after being booked for dissent but the first goal came midway through the first half and was arguably the best. A free kick on the halfway line was chipped in to Brown who angled a header into the run of Brian Cooke who slotted it in for the first of his four. Simple, effective and clearly demonstrating the importance of running off the ball. Matthew Rigg made it 2-0 after sprinting onto a Cooke through ball in behind the defence and slotting the ball calmly beyond the goalkeeper. Ross Macleod added a third with well timed run and finish from a Cooper pass, before Matthew Rigg took his second in similar fashion to his first, Cooper again the provider, making it 4-0 at half time.
After the break Culloden came out strong and managed to pull one back straight from the kick off but even with further pressure were unable to break down the Choppers defence, with G.Macleod adding a good double save. 20 mins in and a clash of heads left McLaughlan with a deep cut on his brow that spilled blood and required hospital treatment after the game but he quickly bandaged himself and returned to the match. Cameron replaced Cooper with R.Macleod moving to the left wing, Morrison going up front and Cameron playing right midfield. The fresh legs revitalised PDG. Ross Macleod broke the offside trap and rolled the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper and then Ross Macleod completed his 2nd hat-trick of the season against Culloden with a volley from a well placed Brown free kick. Brian Cooke added his second and third with close range finishes and rounded the goalkeeper to bag his fourth and bring the final score to 9-1, an all time record victory for PDG Choppers.
