First game of the season and the first time Choppers have started with anything other than a loss.  It was evident that we hadn't played together for a while.  The game started brightly enough but with few clear cut chances for either side.  The Choppers defence and new keeper were looking comfortable but a lack of composure in the final third was making things difficult.  Dave Gallacher came close hitting the post with a header from a free kick, but Cooke was flagged offside with the follow up (which he missed!).

The second half continued in the same vein with periods of good passing play interspersed with 'hit and hope' football.  Greg and Tony came on for Dave Stephens and Scott Gardner respectively.  With the wind behind them Smithton started to dominate, playing long balls in behind our defence which was finding it more difficult when Jimmy Irvine had to go off with an injury forcing a reshuffle with Iain filling in at right back.  Smithton took the lead with a well worked goal but failed to make further chances count.  Nath McLaughlan equalised with only a couple of minutes left as he pounced on a defensive error and scored with a 20 yard drive.
