SONNET
Cherish his words Lord Hades
a man's mortal heart will foolishly sing
for he has journeyed the darkest places,
with all the burdens of a heart unhinged.
Sailing on the prayers of death's wings
as a man who splayed the forests in song
nurtering all the seasons sins
rendering his love from deaths wrongs.
To lay in earthly arms where she belongs
songs from an unpityful immortal,
while loves suffering could not be prolonged
charming a God to free loves alter.
The Lord danced to the poets fine beats
with one condition his love be released.

'it is Duggan's description of Hades that sounds so familiar, so modern, a contemporary urban landscape'
'using beautiful lines and images that continue to haunt long after the reading is done'
'Duggan has done something wonderful here'
