THE RIVER MERSEY
Saturday 10th of February saw four of us (Pam, Rob, Jon & Libby) on a trip down the River Mersey. It was the first moving water trip of 2007, and we all paddled solo - which was an exciting new experience for some!
There are three weirs on the section of River we did, the first - Brinksway Weir was just after the get in, and after much discussion, Libby & Jon shot it. Pam & Rob decided, very sensibly to use the new portage site round the hazard!
The second Weir at Heaton Mersey Bleach Works was very similar, and after checking it out from the side, we all paddled it!
Much further on is Northenden Weir, a much bigger, sloping weir, that this time we all portaged!!
After that, it was about 3km padle to Chorlton Water Park, where we got out and trolley'd the boats back to the minibus! It was a great day, and a great start to paddling this year.
