In Q.43 on MP says "the situation that I am observing in retail where people are being placed for free in retail operations for work experience. In my view, that seems to be squeezing out permanent employment in relatively low-paid retail. I have noticed companies such as Tesco making their standard contracts four-hour contracts. WH Smith has a zero-hour contract policy."

The black box nature of the Work Programme means providers are completely free to design the support they offer in order to maximise success. However, we will rigorously hold their performance to account.
