The battle of Sedgemoor 1685

Our next meeting will be on the 16th of January when James Porter, a retired Lieutenant Colonel, will be presenting The battle of Sedgemoor 1685. This is a local battle, barely an hour's drive away and marks the climax of the Duke of Monmouth's rebellion. Had Monmouth won we would have had a very different society today. James has offered to lead a battlefield tour followed by a pub lunch at a date to be fixed after the presentation if enough people are interested, to put the knowledge gained at the presentation to the ground over which the battle was fought. I think this is a great opportunity to learn about this pivotal battle which took place on our doorstep. Please book the date in your diary and spread the word.
