MacNab House, No1 Trien, Carbostmor, Carbost, Skye, IV47 8ST
The Morrison family have been letting self-catering accommodation on the Isle-of-Skye since 1990, first with Corrie Cottages built on our croft in Satran and then with houses we have built in Carbost-mor, Carbost-beg and Portnalong.
No. 1 Trien welcomed its first guests in 2008 and is sited where the river Vikisgill meets Loch Harport on the road to Carbost, a short walk across the road from the house will bring you to the shore-line. Surrounding Trien there is evidence of man farming the land for centuries; the old run-rig system can be seen scaring the land. Along the road at Satran there is evidence of a cleared settlement. From the sitting room window an abundance of wild life can be see, I once counted 6 Herons standing patiently at the edge of the shoreline waiting for their supper to swim by. It is also possible to see salmon jumping in the sea-loch before swimming up the river Drynoch to spawn.
Set in the Miniginish area of Skye No1 Trien is an ideal base to explore the Island. Within a twenty minute drive is the main town of Portree with its harbour designed by Thomas Telford, here you can take boat trips out into the bay. Another place to explore is Dunvegan Castle the home of the Clan Chief Hugh MacLeod of MacLeod, if you would like to learn more about the Clan MacDonald there is an excellent museum at Armadale that tells of their history.
MacNab House is also an ideal base for climbing as it is only a short drive to the base of the Cuillin Hills, from the house it is possible to find many less strenous walks also. A short walk to the village of Carbost will bring you to the local pub the "Old Inn" where you can eat out or to the Talisker Distillery where you can join a distillery tour to find out about the making and maturing of a Single Malt Spirit into a world class 10 year old Single Malt Whisky.
MacNab House is open for letting all year
