   Two Gambian journalists arrested

Two prominent Gambian journalists; Messrs Malick Jones of the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) and Mam Sait Ceesay, assistant press secretary at State House have been arrested, Senegambia News was informed.
 
According to our sources in Banjul the veteran broadcaster, Mr. Malick Jones was arrested last Friday and is currently being detained at Kairaba police station. Mam Sait Ceesay who had worked at the Daily Observer newspaper before his appointment as assistant press secretary at president’s office was arrested on Saturday and is currently being held at police headquarters in Banjul. No official reasons have been given for these latest arrests.
 
  Reporter   said some people believed Mr. Ceesay's arrest was in connection with the Daily Observer front page story captioned: "JT Kujabi replaced". It is reported that the managing director of Daily Observer newspaper, Dr. Saja Taal was invited at the police station for questioning this morning.
 
The Daily Observer newspaper has published a correction today saying Ebrima JT Kujubi is still the director of press at State House.
 
Malick Jones' office was reportedly searched by police and, as investigations continue, both Jones and Ceesay are not allowed to speak to family members.
