Advice on fastenings

Use pan head screws or bolts preferably stainless steel.
Use a size that will pass through the mounting hole easily.
Wrap a layer or two of tape round the top part under the head.
Use a fiber, plastic or stainless steel washer under the head.
Tighten just enough to hold the item firm.
Odly overtightening does not increase the holding power.
