First Holy Communion

Catholics believe the sacrament of the Eucharist, or Holy Communion, is both a sacrifice and a sacred meal.  We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins.  This sacrament is the source of great graces that sanctify us and help us grow in the likeness of Jesus Christ.  As we receive Christ's Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.

First Communion is a very important and holy day for Catholic children because they receive, for the very first time, the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.  By continuing to receive Holy Communion for the rest of their lives, Catholics become one with Christ and are prepared to share in His eternal life.

Group A: June, 14 at 11 am

(rehearsal on Friday, 13 June at 3.30)

Group B: June, 21 at 11am

(Rehearsal on Friday, 20 June at 3.30)

DRESS CODE FOR FIRST HOLY COMMUNION

As some of you may ask about ‘Dress Code’ for First Holy Communion here there are some guidelines which we hope will help you in making your choices.

Girls and boys should be smartly dressed to reflect the solemn spiritual and joyous occasion that it is.

This means that:

• Jeans, T-shirts and sports shorts or shoes are not appropriate. 
• White dresses – simple and not dance dresses or ‘fancy dress’ is the order of the day for girls.  There should be some sort of sleeve to cover the shoulders. Skirts should be long enough to cover the knee.   A veil may be worn but please no princess or ‘fairy’ headdresses and no high heels on the feet or nail varnish on the fingers!
• For boys – a suit, white or dark coloured with white shirt with or without a plain tie. Alternatively, formal dark trousers with a formal white shirt.  Coloured jackets or waistcoats should not be worn.
