Scotland Trip - Day 2

After a good nights sleep in was time to get up and prepared for the day to come. Having achieved a big 1st day the 2nd day was looking more achievable distance wise.

The plan was basically to go up Glen Feshie then down to Braemar and depending on how we felt either stay there on head on to stay at the 'Queens' bothy on Bamoral estate.

Once ready and off the initial climb up from the Bothy was on a nice wide track in beautiful surroundings

After missing a turning and having to double back a little we pressed on slowly climbing up the glen until the double track eventually ran out and slowly the singletrack that followed became more off than on the bike

We stopped for a brew at some kind of old shelter that had certainly seen better days

And then once again set off following the on off singletrack. In places it was lovely especially for Martyn and Charlie who seemed to be able to ride it far better than myself. Just before the shelter we crossed a little foot bridge over a fast flowing river and slowly as we went over the watershed the riding improved so once again we spent more time mounted than pushing. It was still a relief to eventually come out onto the doubletrack as we started to desend down towards the Linn of Dee.

It was a long but fast downhill run on wide estate track all the way to the Linn of Dee which was a beautiful spot - we stopped for a rest before heading on, we were getting tired now and were in need of a proper rest so were very pleased to see Breamar come into site. Despite this Charlies route seemed to be a long winded way of getting there so we were all most pleased when we eventually rolled into the centre of the village and found the Bothy Cafe which was excellent place to warm up and relax.

I was quite taken by Breamar, it was my first visit there and I found it to be a lovely village, very pretty and well kept. We decided to call it a day riding wise and after a prelonged rest for tea dn food set about finding some accomodation. As usual we let Martyn focus on this as he always seems to sort something out. This time having found the hotels were full we ended up in a cabin in the grounds of one of them - it was a little pricey but as it was only one night and we'd get a bedroom each we took it.

We ended up having a good night in Breamar, a decent pub meal and few real ales in one of the hotel bars, its certainly a place i'd like to visit again sometime.
