Old School Leith Hill

Just to say what a great weeks riding it was last week. Last Wednesday I got delayed so missed the offical ride but managed to team up with Mark (and later on Matt who we bumped into on Leith Hill) so while the main gang were charging up and down Redlands (which is always a challange in terms of both technicality and all those climbs back up) us 3 hooned around all the singletrack on Leith Hill.

With bone dry conditions and just the 2/3 of us stoppages and flaffage were at a minimun that left us free to race around some glorious trails making a right mess on the map when uploaded onto Strava. We managed to join up with the main group at the Stephen Langton for beers which is now under new management (Tillingbourne Brewery I think) which just added to a great nights riding.

So good was the ride that when it came to Saturday and the Nirvana (Dorking Cocks) 9.30 ride I was keen to repeat the whole experiance but this time with 10 others in tow. Despite the rain during the intervening days the trails were still running really well and it was a pleasure to repeat them some of which people had never ridden before. I have to say I found it tireing and by the time we found our way over to Holmbury I was burnt out and could really only limp on to Peaslake stores where we all regrouped for some well earned refreshments. From hear myself, Mark, Nick and Duncan headed for home but got waylaid by a quick pint in the Volunteer (which turned into 2 and then 3 as Simon and Jamie joined us).

Simon, Jamie and Tread had carried on from Peaslake up onto Pitch and then Winterfold where Jamie had given the boys a bit of a beasting I gather (despite still being on a 26er) mind you he is bloody fit. Still it was another fab day spent out on the trails, I do so hope to get some more decent energy back in my legs soon as I don't seem to be able to cope with much more than a hour at present. Still, lets see what Wedneday this week brings, more cracking trails I hope.
