10 months down, 2 to go

Well that’s nearly the end of another month and the completion of plenty more riding. Can’t believe just how warm and dry it is as we approach November and without wishing to tempt fate I have to say I’m quick looking forward to some very cold and very clear bright winter days.

October has seen another decent amount of miles covered as I head towards my yearly target of 4,000. My most recent ride was yesterday when I rode into work and then back home again but from Guildford and with a stop at ‘The Volunteer’ at Sutton Abinger for a bite to eat and couple of pints with George  and Mike. This added another 28 miles or so to the total and with a few more miles on the card tonight despite the rain the target is within sight.

It’s not just me getting the miles in ether as George, Matt, Ade and Peter amongst others had a bike filled weekend in the beautiful Surrey Hills taking in some of the best trails they have to offer. Covering Leith Hill and Redlands, Holmbury, Pitch and Winterfold and a little of Michleham Downs too, I’m told fun was had by all and skill levels and climbing ability increased. Even Duncan was spotted in all his ‘cocks’ gear only slightly ruined by the fact he was mincing on the road bike.

Looking ahead I understand a few ‘Cocks’ are doing the Forest of Dean Enduro and combining it with a visit to Afan. Further ahead of that is the Christmas meal now booked at The Volunteer on 10th December and that’s possibly to be followed by a short and sweet visit to the Highlands by Myself, Martyn and George incorporating the usual sleeper train trip and a couple of days of biking, eating and drinking somewhere around Fort William or perhaps Inverness, or Aviemore, or Pitlochery – destination yet to be determined.
