Well it’s been far too long since I added anything to the site so here is a quick update on what’s been going on since January.

Back in February a few of us managed to get down to South Wales for a weekend biking. We spent the Friday afternoon at Brechfa then the following day at Afan doing the W2 trail and the new one which I can’t remember the name of. Have to say I really enjoyed it, loved the 1st climb from Glyncorrag and of course all the descents, it’s my kind of riding. Brechfa was good too but areas of it were suffering badly from the wet winter we had which took the edge off the enjoyment of the trails there.

On the Sunday we headed home but via a stop at the new Bike Park Wales – I can see why people love it, lots of full on down hilling but without an uplift we found the climb a bit of a drag and having expended a lot of energy over the past few days a couple of runs (one Blue One Red) was enough for me. The trails themselves were fine but for me it’s not really my thing – really didn’t like how busy it was at the start of all the trails with loads of people milling about from the uplifts – the trails felt fairly busy and the runs fairly short, perhaps being on a xc hardtail with a dodgy back wheel didn’t help – I would go again but would much prefer to spend my trail centre time at a more xc orientated venue.

The long awaited new kit has finally arrived and is now being worn by 20 or so Cocks, everyone seems happy with it and I think it looks good. As an add on to this Duncan also got some socks designed and they have now arrived and all been snapped up very quickly and look great.

Nick has done some Garrick’s and I believe got a 2nd place on his singlespeed in one of them which is a cracking result and our Wednesday night rides have been proving very popular indeed with as many as 18 people turning up which is great but also makes it hard to keep the rides flowing and everyone together. We have had a few new faces join us this year too which is nice and welcome and despite the weather the miles are racking up, somewhere around 1,200 so far which isn’t too bad.
