BHF London Brighton Off Road

Well that ws good, really enjoyed the ride. Nice to see Richmond Park and Hampton Court Palace as well as cycle down the Thames towpath for a while.

Was pretty hard keeping my speed up on those Towpaths and the Downslink on my Singlespeed - It did take its toil on me by the time Trueleigh hill came into view. Made it about halfway up the climb out of beeding before having to push most the way up until about 50 yards short of the tarmac where I got cycling again.

The ride from Wisley all the way accross to Winterfold was like being on home ground and I made good time up all the climbs overtaking a steady stream of people.

I think once over the tunnel at Baynards I saw just one other person doing the event and that was a guy who came past me on a Cyclo Cross Bike somewhere near Henfield.

Did the whole thing without having too stop other than to put my chain back on once and cross the roads. Enjoyed the bit through Shoreham Docks then along the sea front to the finish. Got there in about 6 hours and was only the 6th person to finish, it obviously helped that I started in the 1st group of several hundred riders who started.

Got myself a hot cuppa and a burger than had a free massage followed by a hot chocolate - watch a few people arrive then headed off to the station and home.

All good fun, enjoyed my day out and raised a couple of hundred quid for the BHF too which can't be bad.
