Dropped like flies !

Well last Wednesday saw 11 of us set off from Nirvana on the weekly night ride. We headed up Ranmore and by the time we reached the top we already had to say goodbye to Matt R due to a mechanical.

We pressed on taking Charlies route over to the top of White Down. We did reformation without incident then climbed back up the road only to go down the Abba Zabba complex. So far so good and with frequent stops for regrouping we just about managed to stay together all the way over to the Due pond (concrete bowl).

Next was the decent down to Shere that runs close to Drum and Bass, I think its called Mushroom. Another re group at the bottom and we were off again, down the road, accross the A25 then through one of the fords at Shere before climbing up towrds the level crossing.

It was somewhere on that short section that we managed to lose George, Matt and Mike leaving just 7 of us. A short phone call established we'd meet them at the Kings Head and once again we were off. Along the road, over the bridge then immediatley off road beside the railway line to come out at the bottom of ponds lane.

But wheres John, he's nowhere to be seen. A short wait, shout and a quick sortie back and still no sign of him. Well, down to just 6 of us but onwards we pressed, surely John will find us at the Kings Head.

Up Ponds Lane, up into the woods at Winterfold, past bently copse, back up into the woods then back down on an old favorite of ours eventually crossing the old Football Pitch at Peaslake and then dropping into the Village Centre. By this time Charlie was feeling the pace and had left us to make his own way to the pub.

So with just 5 of us left we set off up Radnor Lane onto Holmbury Hill and all the way to the top to do Park Life. A quick blast around here and then straight to the Kings Head where we found George, Mike, Matt and Charlie. Leo had headed straight home but myself, Mark, Michael and Duncan joined the others for a couple of well earned pints.

At some point in the evening Jo and his friend arrived, they joined us for a pint then headed off in search of more beer at bthe Plough Coldharbour.

We all eventually left and headed back to Westcott - somehow we seemed to split into 2 groups taking slightly differant routes only to reform as one before arriving at our destination, all that is expect George who got left behind at somepoint.

As for John, well we still haven't heard from him, hope he's not still out there !
